Welcome To Krabi & Ao Nang
Krabi Town is the main travel hub of the area with an international airport 20 minutes from the centre of town.
From Krabi, you can get to the beautiful beaches of Ao Nang and Klong Muang by road, and the local islands of Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, and Koh Jum as well as the island of Phuket by ferry.
The nearest train station is Trang, which is a 2 hour mini-bus ride south.
Krabi town itself is quite pleasant, with a good selection of centrally located hotels, guest houses, relaxed bars and restaurants to choose from. There is a great night market at the old Chao Fah Pier where you can get good Thai food cheaply, and the weekend market at "Walking Street"
The once busy town of Krabi is a little quieter these days since the ferries to the islands were relocated to the new ferry terminal 10 minutes outside of the town, but it is rumored that some ferries may return to the old pier sometime soon.
The bus station is located about 5 minutes from the center of town, where buses run to and from Bangkok and Suratthani.
Krabi town is an interesting place to stop off on your way to the islands and beaches nearby, with some local day trips on offer to places like the emerald pool, hot springs, and the impressive Tiger Temple, located on top of a mountain overlooking Krabi and beyond.
There is a department store called Vogue in the center of town with a Boots Pharmacy and a KFC.
Visit this Krabi Site for more Krabi information, how to get here and more.
AO Nang is fast becoming a popular beach destination due to its location close to Krabi and its close proximity to some other great beaches such as Klong Muang and Tub Kaek, as well as the beautiful Railay Beach, famed for its towering limestone cliffs, beautiful beach and laid back atmosphere.
There are a large selection of hotels, resorts, guest houses and budget bungalows in Ao Nang, ensuring that there is always somewhere to stay to suit all tastes and pockets.
There are a great many things to do in and around Ao Nang for those who don’t simply want to lay around the pool or on the beach. Activities include rock climbing, elephant trekking, quad biking, shooting, bungee jumping, go carting, golf, and of course, some great diving and snorkeling around the many local islands.
Noppharat Tara Beach is located just a few minutes north of Ao Nang beach, and is generally more laid back than the main beach. Here you will find a number of very nice resorts and hotels and a good selection of beach bars and restaurants. Just inland from the beach, there are a number of bungalow resorts of varying styles and prices, and although not right on the beach, they offer a quiet and relaxed aspect.
